A simple motion submitted by the opposition Social-Democrats (PSD) against the health policies promoted by the current government failed by a nil margin in the Romanian Senate on Monday.

57 senators voted in favor of the text, 57 against it with one abstention.

PSD senators called for the resignation of Health minister Eugen Nicolaescu, whom they consider responsible for the “disaster” of the Romanian health system.

The motion needed 69 votes to pass.
