The Romanian government will benefit from approximately half of the total privatization value of Electrica Muntenia Sud. 67.5% of the shares of Romanian electricity company are sold to Italian group ENEL for 820 million Euros.

ENEL’s general manager Fulvio Conti announced investments of up to 340 million Euros on the Romanian energy market in the coming four years, out of which 80 million Euros only in 2006.

Conti said that ENEL reached 25% of the energy sales and showed confidence that the Romanian Competition Council will grant its approval for the privatization. The ENEL manager expressed intentions to invest in all forms of energy sources in Romania, including hydro and nuclear energy.
