The Political Board of the Conservative Party - PC, a junior member of the governing coalition in Bucharest, has nominated party leader Dan Voiculescu for the seat of deputy prime minister, which was left vacant last week with the resignation of PC representative George Copos.

The news comes as speculation in political circles in Bucharest has intensified for several weeks that a possible government restructuring might lead to the annulment of the seat of deputy PM.

But PC representative Bogdan Ciuca said today that his party would push of a restructuring process that would not include this sear and that there was no risk for Dan Voiculescu to lose the position once the nomination is approved by Liberal PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu.
