The biggest media group in Turkey, Dogan Media, has entered the Romanian market with a license for an entertainment channel, D TV. The group is consulted by Cristian Burci, known on the local media market for his involvement in the TV ownership of Prima TV over the past several years.

Burci confirmed for Hotnews.ro the group plans a first-phase investment of 30 to 35 million euro in the Romanian market.

The Dogan group, owned by tycoon Aydin Dogan, is the strongest media conglomerate in Turkey and owns two of the best selling newspapers there – Hurriyet and Milliyet – and several TV stations, including a Turkish-language CNN Turk.

Dogan also owns over 50 companies in the banking, insurance, energy and tourism sectors.

Cristian Burci dismissed for Hotnews.ro speculations that he might hold 30% of the company due to be created in Romania: “Until all this things are put on paper, the news is false”.
