Intelligence blunder regarding bird flu

Miercuri, 24 mai 2006, 0:00

The report presented by the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) on the origin of the bird flu outbreak two weeks ago in the county of Brasov was severely slammed by both the Romanian president and the PM. The president labeled the report as “embarrassing” and self disqualifying for the SRI.

The PM criticized the fact that the situation got an international political dimension due to the blunder by SRI which had made unfounded accusations.

The two countries rejected the accusations and so did the European Commission which denied the existence of the virus H5 in Hungary and Slovakia.
