Fourty-four bird flu hotbeds were confirmed in Romania by Tuesday afternoon as 26 another supected cases have been identified across the country, according to Agriculture minister Gheorghe Flutur. Meanwhile, circulation was allowed to restart in two Bucharest area previously placed in bird flu quarantine.

According to the latest toll, the H5 identified hotbeds are in the counties of Brasov, Covasna, Vrancea, Bacau, Buzau, Sibiu, Vrancea, Neamt, Prahova and Mures, as well as Bucharest Districts 2 and 4.

The Agriculture minister also announced that suspected cases have been identified in the Ilfov district surrounding Bucharest, in the towns of Bragadiru and Cornetu.

38 hotbeds have been dealt so far, including the Drakom farm in the Brasov county, considered to be the source of the latest bird flu outbreak.
