On Friday, the Bucharest Tribunal rejected the appeal by the National Authority for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) against a court’s decision that ruled the lift of the levy on Romanian businessman Gigi Becali’s possessions. The Tribunal found the levy unjustified and decided ineradicably against the appeal.

ANAF imposed a levy on Becali’s wealth six months ago, including the stocks of FC Steaua Bucharest, in order to recover the club’s 12 mln Euros debts to the state’s budget.

Becali said the debt had accumulated before he bought the football club. Steaua Bucharest played the UEFA Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough and lost.
