The Romanian industrial production grew 4.5% in the first three months of 2006, compared to the similar period of 2005, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute – INS on Wednesday.

The March production grew 4.3% compared to the similar month last year, after a 2.9% growth in February.

The total business figure of industry companies for the analyzed period reported a 6% increase compared to Q1 2005, while the figure for March rose by 0.6%.

The value of construction works rose by 20.7% in March, with over 3300 approvals for residential buildings. The figure stays at 20.7% for the whole quarter.

And the business figure of the non-auto, non-fuel retail sector rose by 23.8% compared to the same period last year.
