The Bulgarian minister for European Affairs, Meglena Kuneva, congratulated Romania for the progress made so far, in particular regarding Justice and Home Affairs and expressed her confidence that Romania’s good results will boost the Sofia authorities to increase efforts in order to meet EU conditions, according to the press agency Focus.

Kuneva compared the performances of the two candidate countries for the European Union membership, mentioning that Bulgaria close the J&HA chapter one year earlier than Romania.

"In less than a year, the situation has changed considerably, due to the way the reform is perceived within the Justice system in Romania," said the Bulgarian minister, expressing confidence that Bulgaria can make similar progress as well.
