Romania’s current account deficit for the two months of 2006 reached 1018 million euro, up 80.5% compared to the similar period last year, according to a National Bank –BNR announcement on Friday.

The current account deficit was covered 98.2% by direct foreign investments (1 bln euro, compared to 0.5 bln euro in January-February 2005).

The public foreign debt recorded a sold of 11304 million euro by February 28, 2006 – 46% of the medium and long term foreign debt, compared to 46,2% on December 31, 2005.
