Romanian drugs producer Terapia reported record sales of over 25 million USD for the first quarter of 2006, up 30% compared to the similar period last year, the company has announced.

Officials of the Cluj Napoca-based company expect an increase of sales to about 110 million USD in 2006, 40% more than last year.

Terapia is one of the most important Romanian producers and exporters of pharmaceutical products, as over 30% of its portfolio is formed of about 150 products registered on foreign markets. It is present in 15 Eastern European markets due to exports of over 11 million in 2005.

Indian company Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. announced last week the acquisition of 96.7% of Terapia shares from the Advent International Investment Fund, a transaction worth 324 million USD.
