Petrom general manager Gheorghe Constantinescu will be soon replaced at the helm of Romania’s biggest oil group as the majority stakeholder OMV decided to name him an aide for the CEO of the Austrian company Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer, it was announced on Wednesday.

Constantinescu will be succeded by Mariana Gheorghe, a member of the Petrom board after the privatization of the company and a representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The replacement will take place June 15 this year.

According to a company press release, Constantinescu will be responsible with bringing Petrom in line with EU demands in terms of competition, environment, product specification and the liberalization of the natural gas market.
