Romanian president Traian Basescu replied to the political unrest surrounding the CNSAS, the body studying the archives belonging to former communist militia Securitate, by threatening to request the Government an ordinance to allow free press access to the secret files.

"There must be no suspicion that there is any negotiation regarding the secret files in the CNSAS warehouses" said Traian Basescu.

The head of the Conflict Prevention Center, analyst Iulian Chifu told Hotnews that Basescu’s statement betrayed his exasperation towards the front page subject of politicizing the CNSAS.
