The National Anti-Corruption Directorate charged with corruption and abuse of office a state secretary responsible with mining issues within the Economy Ministry, along with other mining union leaders. The charges relate to the purchase of residences bellow the market price from the people to be relocated due to mining works.

The mining unions built luxurious villas for the new owners, one of them belonging to ministry official Ionel Mantog’s wife, a judge at the Tribunal Gorj.
