Foreign direct investments in Romania reached 699 mln Euros in January, up 199 percent compared to the same month last year when the figure reached 234 mln Euros, according to the National Bank of Romania’s provisional info.

In 2005, the most important contribution of the foreign investments that made up 384 mln Euros, 55 percent of the total volume, came from loans granted by the central headquarters of the companies to the subsidiaries in Romania. Reinvested profit also scored high rates of 25 per cent, representing 178 mln Euros.

In January 2006, there were registered 881 foreign companies with the social capital amounting to 105.6 mln Euros.
