At 0300 on Sunday March 26, Romania winter time advances to Summer Time (ST). Clock time should be advanced one hour so the time will be 0400. The National Railway Company will function according to the ST starting this Sunday, 4 a.m.

The European Union has adopted a directive on Summer Time Arrangements in which it states that summer (or daylight saving) time will be kept between the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October.

Daylight saving time is a practice adopted by many countries around the world, including the USA, Russia, most of Europe and the Commonwealth.

The main reasons given for the use of summer time is employing the Sun power, and saving electricity. ST was introduced back in Romania in 1979, after a suspension of more than 35 years.
