A local branch of the opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) announced on Thursday the exclusion from the party of Antonie Iorgovan, known as "the architect of 1990 Romanian constitution", following "the complete withdrawal of political support" for him.

Iorgovan says this measure is against the party’s statute as a PSD member can be excluded only from the organization to which he belongs, which is in Iorgovan’s case the small local of township Sichevita, in the county of Caras Severin.

The PSD Senator blames another top member of the party, Ilie Sarbu, for masterminding his ousting from PSD Timis headquarters.
