The Justice minister of the previous Social-Democratic (PSD) government faced High Court prosecutors on Tuesday as witness in a case related to the Petromidia refinery, at the center of a major judicial campaign on oil group Rompetrol and its head Dinu Patriciu.

Ex-minister Rodica Stanoiu answered questions related to a governmental ordinance that transformed the debts Petromidia held to the state budget into bonds.

Stanoiu is the fifth former minister grilled in the case after ex-Finance minister Mihai Tanasescu, ex-Transport minister Miron Mitrea, ex-minister for the relations with the Parliament Acsinte Gaspar and the former head of the Authority for Privatization Ovidiu Musetescu.

Judicial sources quoted by the media have said ex-PM Adrian Nastase and ex-Economy minister Dan Ioan Popescu would also face hearings next week.
