The Romanian tourists that used to spend holidays in Turkey, Bulgaria or in other European countries are very likely to choose local destinations over the international ones, according to a press release of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT).

One of the main reasons of this phenomenon is the emergence and the spreading of the bird flue. Romania is a secure destination, ensures the ANT president referring to the World Health Organization's remarks that praised Romania’s methods of tackling the avian crisis.

ANT encourages the Romanian tourists to opt for the local destinations as 1 mln Euros has been granted for the national tourism this year. Additionally, the Romanian authorities will issue stricter rules regarding the quality of the services and the professional background of the employees in the tourism industry.
