The Permanent Bureau of the House of Deputies, that had previously decided to reject the search of the former PM’s house, agreed Monday to leave this decision to the Parliament, following a renewed request from the Justice minister, Monica Macovei.

Adrian Nastase, former PM and current speaker of the House, voted last week against a search mandate for two of his properties, sparking criticism from media, civil society, and parliamentarians about placing himself in a conflict of interests situation.

"I will not make abstraction of this decision, and I will not oppose any procedure. I wouldn’t like to give the impression that I combine principles with personal issues," said Nastase who informed officially the House of Deputies about the request from the Justice minister.

The request will be sent to the Juridical Commission of the Parliament to be analyzed and reported upon within five days.
