Bucharest teams Steaua and Rapid reputed victories on enemy field in the UEFA Cup yesterday and are now favorites to qualify when they have to defend their successes back home, eight days from now. Whle Rapid defeated Hertha Berlin 1-0 with a goal in min. 68, Steaua was considerably more categorical with a 3-1 victory against the Dutch of Heerenven.

Rapid’s victory goal was scored by Vali Negru in a second half penalty, while Hertha had to accept defeat when Boateng and Madlung had to leave the field in min. 74 and min. 84 respectively.

Even in a configuration of nine the German players pressed hard for the end of the match, failing to break the Romanian line though.

Steaua, for itself, Steaua objected to its image of a more defensive team lately and managed to bring sensation with its first victory on a rival field in the UEFA Cup. And the victory was unchallenged: 3-1.

The Dutch at Heerenven were the first to score in min. 24 (Bruggink). Buth Dinca (30), Goian (76) and Paraschiv (78) procured a series of scores that guaranteed the Romanians will be favorites in the next match back in Romania.
