Vasile Blaga, secretary general of the Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L, main backers of President Traian Basescu) has said he was ready to run for Bucharest Mayor if his party supported him. In a talkshow on Realitatea TV news station, Blaga said that he wanted his party to win the seat, currently held by another PD-L leader, Adriean Videanu.
He admitted that he would rather prefer a seat within the future government, especially that of Interior minister since he would comply with that job's requirements best. For Prime Minister, Blaga puts forward the name of Theodor Stolojan.
In the same talk-show, PD-L president Emil Boc said that if his party failed to gain a majority in the upcoming elections, he was ready to open talks with any winning party.
