Newly elected Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu decided to end the contract the city administration had with Dalli, the agent managing most paid parking lots in Bucharest. However, Dalli officials declared that they will sue the administration because the contract can only be ended if the agent, in this case Dalli, fails to comply with its contractual obligations. Nonetheless, City Hall officials must publicly announce the reasons which allow for such a decision.

Dalli won the international public tender with Bucharest central administration in 1995 and offered the mayor the biggest profit return, 55.5% from profits. Dalli accuses that the administration has no grounds to end the contract.

Dalli officials declare that the main reasons behind the decision is political since Oprescu's goal is to prove that he is independent from any political pressure.

Parking in Bucharest is one of the most sensible infrastructure issues given the inferno of everyday traffic in the city.
