Taxis are forbidden to station in Bucharest's International Henri Coanda Airport parking lots and any attempt to pick up or harass passengers is strictly forbidden, airport authorities informed on Tuesday, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn.

Taxi access is forbidden starting September 10, 2009 according to the airport's application norms. The airport's administration will select several authorized taxi companies which they will allow access strictly to debark or pick up passengers.

Transports minister Berceanu issued in February the draft of the current norms which rules that each airport, through its specialized services would organize the transports of people within their compounds.

Thus, the administration of each airport will identify the necessary resources and ensure that taxis have a special place to debark passengers. Taxis are allowed to station at most 5 minutes. After their clients leave, the taxi must leave immediately the airport. Moreover, taxis will only be able to pick up passengers if the latter called for one.
