French musician Yann Tiersen, known to the large public for his compositions featured in Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain and Good Bye Lenin!, will perform in Romania for the second time. The event is scheduled for November 4, staring 8 pm at Sala Palatului in Bucharest, ARTmania informs.

He worked with French bands Noir Desir, Red Cardell, Bastard, but also with the Brits from The Divine Comedy, Neil Hannon's band. He's a member of This Immortal Coil, a music band dedicated to the reinterpretations of Coil's songs. The artist is performing with an experimental quartet from the Faeroe Islands - Orka - in September in a tour in Germany and Poland.

Tiersen has many faces on the stage: accompanied by an orchestra and many guests, with a bassist or percussionist and a guitarist on his side, changing the piano with the accordion or with the violin, or even with the electric guitar for the songs with a high volume when the avant-garde music meets rock sounds.

  • Studio albums: La valse des monstres (1995), Rue des cascades (1996), Le phare (1998), Tout est calme (1999), L'absente (2001), Les retrouvailles (2005).
  • Live albums: Black Session (1999), C'etait ici (2002), On Tour (2006).
  • Soundtracks: Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001), Good Bye Lenin! (2003) and Tabarly (2008).
  • Colaborations: The Married Monk (2001), Goodbye Lenin! (2003), On aime On aide (2003), Yann Tiersen & Shannon Wright (2004), Smooth - The Endless Rise Of The Sun (2006), Katel - Raides a la ville (2006), David Delabrosse - 13m2 (2006), Tabarly (2008).

Tiersen performed in Romania for the first time in 2003. In November, the French artist will be accompanied in Bucharest by six musicians prepared for a full Yann Tiersen branded concert, playing numerous instruments. The public anticipates vocal singer Christine Ott and instruments working with Martenot sounds.

Here are the artist's website and myspace.

The tickets for Yann Tiersen's performance cost between 50 and 210 RON and can be bought from Germanos stores, Catruresti library branches and online from and, starting Monday, September 21. The organisers are ARTmania.
