A solidarity strike announced for Tuesday, June 1, by trade unions in the public transport services in Bucharest - the subway and the tram/bus services - would take place between 4.00 a.m. and 12 p.m., according to an announcement made on Monday and quoted by news agency Rompres. The strike was previously scheduled to take place between 4.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m..

The decision was made following a request trade unions received from a foundation organising a humanitarian fund raising concert in Bucharest's Constitutional Square on June 1.

The public transport department RATB, which manages tram, bus and trolley bus services, announced it would operate at a capacity of at least 85% on Tuesday.

Areas affected by subway and tram strikes on Tuesday would be covered by supplementary bus routes, Bucharest mayor announced on Monday.
