17 flights to and fro Bucharest international airport Henri Coanda were canceled due to weather conditions by 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. Weather also affected road and railway transports starting Wednesday. This morning, 11 flights due to land on Henri Coanda airport and six flights due to depart for foreign destinations had been canceled.

Affected schedules included flights to Munich, Prague and Helsinki.

Later in the morning, Henri Coanda communications director Valentin Iordache, quoted by tv news channels, announced flights would go on as normal and that the airport was doing its best that late flights would not exceed 30 minutes.

Dozens of flights were canceled or postponed on Coanda airport on Wednesday, due to freezing conditions in Bucharest and snow and cold weather in several European countries.

Railway traffic in Romania was also affected, with Romanian railway transport company CFR announcing 12 canceled flights and six trains stuck because of ice on cables or trees fallen on railways across the country.

The Bucharest city hall convened a snow intervention commanding staff on Thursday morning due to bad weather across south Romania starting Wednesday.
