The CAEN codes - the national statistics classification of economic activities in Romania - saw a new version coming into force on January 1, 2008. The new taxonomy covers a wider range of actions, including 101 new classes of economic activities. Companies may change their activity code for fees of no less than 30 RON (some 8 euro), at offices of the Romanian Commercial Register.

The new version of the CAEN codes has four new sections, 26 divisions, 48 groups and 101 new classes, compared to the former code. A deadline for changing the current codes was not imposed, yet updates will be required in order to deal with State institutions.
