The National Authority for Energy Regulations announced on Wednesday that an 8.5% price increase for natural gas consumption was approved. E.ON Gaz Romania demanded approval for a 10% growth, justifying the claim with the price evolution on the international market. E.ON officials said they are no longer able to sell the gas for a price lower than the acquisition cost and estimate a total price growth of 20-30% in 2008.
The Authority also decided a 5% price growth for the domestic production of natural gas, up to 495 RON per 1,000 cubic meters.
