Romanian National Bank increased its yearly monetary policy rate from 8% to 9% on Monday, a press release of the Bank informs. Moreover, the Romanian National Bank decided to adopt several supplementary cautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the central bank will continue to firmly control liquidity on the monetary market through market operations and retain the current level of compulsory minimal reserve rates.

BNR had upped its key interest from 7.5% to 8% in early January.

The Bank board analyzed and approved on Monday a quarterly report on inflation, a document due to be presented on Thursday, February 7, 2008.
