The advertising festival AdPrint 2008 that took place in the Romanian city of Brasov last weekend was dominated by Spanish teams even if the Romanian teams draw lots of attention from an international jury. The first five winning agencies on Saturday night were Contrapunto Spain and McCann Erickson Spain, closely followed by Mother/London and 180 Amsterdam. The only Romanian agency in the top five was Graffiti BBDO Bucharest.

The 2008 AdPrint edition - ninth in the festival's history - was unexpectedly tough for most of the participants. The specialized jury observed all the works in the contest but sanctioned any lack of originality in most of the cases, jury members told HotNews.ro.

The prizes (Angels) won by Romanian teams were:

  • Graffiti BBDO - 2 Angels for Beverages: Non-Alcoholic (Urbanized Culture for Mountain Dew campaign) and Media Promotion (History in Brief campaign).
  • Saatchi&Saatchi - 1 Angel for Cosmetics/Toiletries, for the 1961 Head&Shoulders campaign
  • Grey Bucharest - 1 Angel for Home Maintenance (Fairy)

Jung von Matt Creative Director Christian Himmelspach, who represented the president of the AdPrint jury, told HotNews.ro that even though few prizes were awarded, all teams in the contest, Romanian or foreign alike, were very good. He added that Romanian teams did not differ from those in other European countries.
