The result of more than three hours of negotiations between retailers and producers, under the mediation of Agriculture Minister Dacian Ciolos, was a simple decision: the two parties will form a common commission which will put up a "Good Commercial Practice Guide". The rest of the meeting was a series of accusations from producers and a lot of silence from retailers.

Romanian large consumption goods producers recently joined the larger European scandal, accusing supermarkets and hypermarkets of using masked taxes in order to sell their products, the final price of goods becoming more than double for the consumer.

In brief:

- The Agriculture Ministry, the Economy Ministry and the Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry will participate in creating the Good Commercial Practice Guide, which will include a frame-contract and a condition for taxation transparency.

- The Agriculture Minister suggested separated negotiations for each field - meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables producers.

- Auchan and Selgros argued that the Romanian products are poor anyway and that they have alternate sources anyway.

- The Competition Council investigates the retail market in Romania.
