British American Tobacco profits in the first 2008 quarter totalled 807 million pounds. At European level, revenues increased by 48 million pounds to 230 million pounds due to great performances of local companies in Romania, Russia and Switzerland. Kent, Pall Mall and Viceroy sales in Romania pushed for a significant profit increase, a quarterly BAT report shows.

The document reads that Romania contributed directly to the global BAT profit increases due to its high sales level and the contributions of the price and production policies. At the European level, Romania, together with Russia, Switzerland, France and Holland pushed profits to the sky.

Romanian sales had a say in the regional sales growth which grew by 3% to 53 billion pounds. Moreover, in Romania Kent sales grew by 30% closely followed by Pall Mall cigarettes and Lucky Strike.
