Next to Mercedes and Mitsubishi, the Audi luxury division of the German Volkswagen group plans to produce cars in Romania, Trade minister Ovidiu Silaghi declared on Monday for Romanian news agency Mediafax. He added that each company was analyzing the Romanian market, especially the Western region.

He added that Audi seems to be interested in the Romanian car industry. However, he declared that he wouldn't point to any specific location since Audi just initiated a search for the location. On the other hand, he pointed out that Mitsubishi was determined to find a suitable place for its factory.

Last week Romanian PM Tariceanu met Mitsubishi director Osama Masuko and Tariceanu emphasized that Romania has one of the strongest car production industry in the region. Moreover, he pointed out that this industry is a priority for the government and that central authorities will support any foreign investment in the sector.
