Romanian insurance companies lost some 75.8 million euro in 2007, the second year their results are negative, Insurance Monitoring Commission (CSA) president Angela Toncescu declared for Romanian news agency NewsIn on Tuesday. She added that the net average loss weighted 3.5% from the gross bonus values registered in 2007, of 2.15 million euro.

The Romanian insurance market amounts to some 645.25 million euro in the first quarter, a 16.8% increase as compared to the same period in 2007. CSA president declared in early March that insurance companies paid last year damages of 1 billion euro for contracts signed, 27.71% more than in 2006. General insurances weight more: 94.6%.
