Since the beginning of 2008, the Anti-Fraud Department (DLAF) opened verifications to 71 projects using a total of 176 million euro from EU funds, the DLAF head Ovidiu Dobleaga declared for Hotnews.ro. In 40 cases, the verifications are complete and, in more than half of them, there are indications on possible frauds taking place. Starting this year, DLAF may also check the payments made per hectare of agriculture-dedicated terrain.

At the beginning of next week, HotNews.ro will publish the "schemes" employed to fraud EU funds, based on recent, still under investigation cases.
