Legendary Bill Gates (52) leaves on Friday the CEO position at Microsoft, the company he founded 33 year ago. The retiring comes after Microsoft unsuccessfully attempted to take over yahoo, the world's second largest group, considering the on-line advertising. Gates will dedicate himself to charity works, within the foundation he started along with his wife, Melinda, promoting health and education worldwide.

Gates founded Microsoft along with his childhood friend, Paul Allen, the history of the company merges with the history of the personal computer itself, Windows being the platform that turned the device into a common household.

The company earned over 51 billion dollars in 2007 only, employs over 78,000 people and operates in 105 countries. Bill Gates is one of the richest men in the world, with over 58 billion dollars.
