No bank in Romania poses problems of liquidity for the moment and rumors that have been circulating about alleged troubles facing certain banks are not justified, the head of the Romanian National Bank (BNR) supervision direction Nicolae Cinteza said on Wednesday.

He said BNR was aiming at preventing an escalation of the situation following rumors spreading about alleged bank troubles. He said people had no reason to withdraw their money from banks and insisted that the banking system has an excess in liquidity.

Speaking of the high RON-euro exchange rate, he said he would not buy euro at the current rate.
