Romania's economy registered a 9.1% increase in the third quarter of the year, with a total GDP of 139.4 billion Romanian Ron, Romania's National Statistics Institute informs. In the first nine months of the year, the country's GDP amounted to 335.2 billion Ron, a 8.9% increase as compared to last year.

The economic advance was of 8.8% in the first quarter of the year, and in the second one, it was 9.3%, both registered values were records for the period after 1989. In the first quarter of the year, Romania's GDP was 86.74 billion Ron, a 8.2% increase as compared to the similar period, last year.

Last year, the GDP amounted to 404.7 billion Ron, a 6% increase as compared to the previous year. Estimations for the nest year report that the GDP growth will register a 0.3% decrease or an advance of 6%, depending on the institutions that set up the estimation.

Thus, Moody's experts forecast an economic recession for Romania in 2009 and a GDP decrease by 0.3%. IMF experts estimate that the economy will grow next year by 3.5% while ING Bank forecast a decrease in the pace of growth by 1.7%.
