Romanian car producer Automobile Dacia will introduce this year an 1.2 liter, 75 horse-power engine version for the Logan and Sandero models. The same engine version is already available on Renault Symbol models. The new engine should be available within the first half of the year, but a firm date was not yet established.

The 1.2 liter engine has lower emissions than similar gasoline engines from Dacia, which means a lower registration tax for buyers in countries where CO2 emissions are considered.

Also this year, the Sandero model will be available with a GPL engine (liquefied gas).

The activity at Dacia is currently stopped because of the low level of orders. The factory will return to production on February 9, Dacia estimating that January will be the worst month during the past few years, considering the sale.
