Only 14,000 new cars and 6,000 second-hand cars were registered in Romania in January this year, a drop of over 53%, compared to January 2008, official data revealed. While the crisis stands against the acquisition of new cars, the second-hand cars market expects the modification (and a final version) of the car registration tax.
Dacia saw 3,500 new registrations, instead of 8,000 in January 2008, while Renault sold 1,000 units, instead of 3,000.
In January 2008, six car brands sold over 1,000 units. The threshold was exceeded by only two brands in January this year.
