IMF delegation chief Jeffrey Franks declared for HotNews.ro that the interest rate of the 12,95 billion euro loan will be about 3.5%. In the same time, Romania's representative to the IMF Mihai Tanasescu declared that the interest rate requested by the European Commission for the first installment will be about 2, 2.5%.

The financial pack for Romania will need to be returned in a period of 3 to 5 years starting 24 months after it is received. Franks declared that the IMF practices an interest rate based on all other global interest rates plus a certain margin, depending on the amount of the loan. For Romania, the interest rate will be about 3.5% which is a modest one.
