Romania's insurance market increased by 5.5% in the first quarter of the year up to 4.67 billion lei. The advance of the general insurance compensated the decline of life insurances, Romanian news agency NewsIn informs. Romania's Insurance House president, Angela Toncescu declared that Romania's general insurance market increased by 7.58% in the first quarter while the life insurance market decreased by 2.7%.

Moreover, provisional data reveals that most payments made by insurance companies reached 2.94 billion lei, a 47.7% increase compared to the same period, last year.
