The general budget reported a deficit of 17.58 billion lei or 3.31% of the GDP in the first seven months of the year, above the level of the first half of the year, when it stood at 2.71% of the GDP, according to the Romanian Finance Ministry data.

By the end of July, general budget revenues totaled 92.24 billion lei, while spending reached 109.82 billion lei.

Romanian authorities and the IMF in August reviewed the budget deficit target from 4.6% to 7.3% of the GDP, at a nominal value of the GDP of 497.3 billion lei.
