Moreover, it is possible that the unemployment rate to continue to rise in the first quarter of 2010, director of the Agency for Employment Eugen Preda said, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn.
For the first time since unemployment rates are calculated, since 1991, the number of unemployed increase constantly over the year. This is a unique situation, Preda said. Romania's National Prognosis Committee estimates that the number of unemployed in Romania will reach 685,000 by the end of the year, a 70% increase compared to December 2008.
