New car registrations in Romania dropped by 74% year on year to below 7,000 units in September, while used car registrations dropped by 53% to 12,000 units, according to the latest data released on Monday.
Last year, 26,500 new cars were registered in September. Dacia remained first among car brands with 2,000 units registered in September 2009, while Skoda came second with 740 units, followed by Renault (540), Volkswagen and Ford.
For used cars, Volkswagen remained a favorite, but down from 7,600 a year ago to some 3,600 in September 2009. Opel, Ford, Audi and BMW came second-fifth.
