IMF follows with great interest as political events unfold in Romania, and does not anticipate any change in its relationship with Romania, IMF Romania chief of mission Jeffrey Franks declared, quoted by Radio Romania Actualitati. He said that an IMF evaluation mission will visit Bucharest after the new government will be formed.

The second evaluation of the stand by agreement with the IMF was scheduled for the end of this month when a mission of the IMF was supposed to come to Bucharest to evaluate whether Romania complied with the obligations assumed in the agreement.

The decision to postpone the visit came right ater Eurostat announced that Romania registered the highest inflation rate in the EU in September. According to Eurostat data, our country registered an annual inflation rate of 4.9% in September compared to the 0.53% average in the other member states.

Radio Romania Actualitati reminds that Romania's National Central Bank chief of Financial Stability Ion Dragulin estimated an instability of the exchange rate due to the current macro-economic environment.
