Romania occupied, in July, the first place in a top EU member states inflation rate, registering an increase of prices of 7.1% compared to the same month in 2009, Eurostat, the EU's statistics institute, reads on Monday. At the EU level, the inflation rate was 1.2% compared to 1.9% in June while in the euro zone, the inflation increased from 1.4% to 1.7%.

Romania is followed by Greece with 5.5% and Hungary with 3.6%. On the other side Ireland with -1.2% and Lithuania with -0.7%. Compared to the previous month, inflation increased in 19 countries.
