The nominal value of the GDP was, in the second quarter of 2010 of 114.7 billion lei and at the level of the first six months the GDP reached 211.4 billion lei, National Statistics Institute President Vergil Voineagu said. Romania is in recession and if the country registers an economic growth in the third quarter this could mean that the country could start to recover.

Poland did not enter a recession, Voineagu said. Other countries like Greece, Romania, Sloveni or Finland did not exit the recession just yet. The industry had a positive impact. The agriculture sector did not influence the GDP while services had a negative impact just like constructions.

He said that the population census will be organized on October 2011 and about 21.5 million people will be registered together with 5 million buildings, 8.2 million households and 7.5 million houses.
