Romanian PM Emil Boc and Communications minister Valerian Vreme scheduled a meeting at noon on Friday with the head of Vodafone group Vittorio Colao and the head of Vodafone Romania Inaki Berroeta. According to Vodafone data, the talks were to focus on the evolution and perspectives of the telecom sector in Romania.

Minister Vreme told HotNews.ro that the meeting was called by Vodafone early this week. It comes a couple of weeks since Romania's Competition Council decided to fine Orange and Vodafone some 63.1 million euro for abuse of dominant position on the local market.

Minister Valerian Vreme told HotNews.ro prior to the talks that as far as he knew Vittorio Colao was paying a technical visit to Romania and that the meeting was agreed considering the level of Vodafone investments in Romania.

Vodafone Romania head Inaki Berroeta said in early February that Vodafone was planning to invest 500 million euro in Romania over the next five years.
